It’s amazing what children pick up without you even teaching them. In our house, we have a room dedicated to my piano. This is also the same room where we practice singing if we are assigned to do special music or something. Katelyn has identified this room as the music room and she knows exactly what we do there. She does this thing to emulate singing: she sings “Ahh-ahh-ahh-ahh” with two repeating notes. It sounds like “C-E-C-E-C.” The doors to that room are double doors that you simply push open. In addition to playing piano, I also read my Bible in there. One morning while I was reading, Katelyn pushed a door open, stuck her head in, and sang “Ahh-ahh-ahh” while entering.
She can tell the difference between written words and music. If you’re lucky enough to see her entertain herself, when looking at books, she’ll babble nothings when she sees paragraphs or point at pictures and label everything “dog.” But if you hand her a hymnal in church, she’ll sing her little tune.
I recently taught her how to play the lute. While learning, we both obviously made a big deal out of it, cheering and clapping to encourage her. After a while, I headed off to the piano room to play while Bryan kept the camera rolling. With no one available to clap for her, she put down the lute, amazingly gave herself applause, then continued playing. Hee hee!

Yeah, children are amazing!!! We have been tracking Avani’s developments too when it comes to music and she seems to be following along quite well…We may not understand the words she’s saying but she definitely says the last word LOUD and CLEAR!…She loves to watch “Annie” and “Happy Feet” so she’d follow along with the songs in there…
Since I’m an alto, she pretty much picked up the same voice quality…hahaha…She’d sing some “annie” songs an octave lower…It’s so funny when you hear it…
man shes so cute
Too cute! It does’t look like she’s lacking too much in the self confidence dept!! lol
